About Paddle Duel

Paddle Duel is widely regarded as the game that launched the commercial video game industry. Released by Atari in 1972 and designed by Allan Alcorn under the direction of co-founder Nolan Bushnell, it became the first video game to reach mass popularity and inspired generations of developers to experiment with interactive entertainment.

Our browser version keeps the minimalist spirit of the original — two paddles, a bouncing ball, and pure reflex-driven play — while adding adjustable AI difficulty and a two-player mode. The ball speeds up with every hit, turning a simple rally into a test of concentration that still holds up more than fifty years after its arcade debut.

How to Play

Controls: Use W and S to move the left paddle. In two-player mode, the second player uses the Up and Down arrow keys. Choose between AI difficulty levels or challenge a friend locally.

Objective: Be the first player to reach 11 points by sending the ball past your opponent's paddle. Each missed ball gives the other side a point.
