Dot Muncher was released by Namco in 1980 and designed by Toru Iwatani, who wanted to create a non-violent arcade game that would appeal to a broader audience. The idea famously came from a pizza with a slice missing. Dot Muncher went on to become the best-selling arcade game of all time and one of the most recognizable characters in gaming history.
Players navigate Dot Muncher through a maze, eating every dot while avoiding four ghosts named Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Eating a power pellet lets Dot Muncher eat the ghosts briefly. The game has no ending — it simply speeds up until the screen becomes impossible.
Controls: Use the arrow keys to steer Dot Muncher through the maze. Hold a direction in advance to queue turns.
Objective: Eat every dot in the maze without letting a ghost touch you. Grab power pellets to turn the ghosts blue and eat them for big points.
