About Whack a Mole

Whack a Mole was invented in 1976 by Aaron Fechter of Creative Engineering, the same company behind the animatronics used in early arcade entertainment. It quickly became a staple at fairs, arcades, and family entertainment centers, where players hammered pop-up moles for tickets and high scores.

Our digital version captures the same frantic rhythm — moles pop up from holes, you click or tap to whack them, and the pace keeps accelerating. Add bombs, combos, and a 60-second timer, and a childhood arcade favorite turns into a surprisingly intense test of reflexes and focus.

How to Play

Controls: Click or tap a mole as soon as it pops out of its hole. Avoid hitting the bombs that occasionally appear alongside them.

Objective: Score as many points as possible within 60 seconds. Consecutive hits build a combo multiplier that rewards fast, accurate clicking.

Tips & Strategy

  • Track the whole grid with your eyes, not just the hole you are aiming at, so the next mole is never a surprise.
  • Do not chase every mole — accuracy matters more than volume once the combo meter starts climbing.
  • Pause your clicks for a split second when a bomb appears next to a mole. One wrong click breaks the streak.
  • Keep your cursor near the center of the grid between hits to minimize travel distance.
  • Use short, deliberate clicks instead of mashing — panic hits are the main reason combos end early.
